The Super Bowl Preview: Patriots vs Rams
For the record ninth time, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady will lead the Patriots in yet another Super Bowl, third in a row for them. It all started in 2001 with a win over Rams and it's the Rams they'll have to face again...
With the overtime win against the Kansas City Chiefs, Super Bowl is featuring two well-known faces - Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Patriots had their problems this year, having lost five away games during the regular season, but in the playoffs, their offence is playing at a stellar level.
Tom Brady is having no problems beating the opposing defences with quick and accurately thrown balls, so the pressure still hasn't gotten anywhere near him. He is yet to receive a single sack during the post-season and for most of the plays, the pass rush is looking very feeble.
Their defence has so far done just enough, but they'll probably need to raise their level of game in order to get yet another Super Bowl trophy.
The Rams could, poetically speaking, end a dynasty in this Super Bowl and start their own. They have all the tools necessary: a young and capable QB Jared Goff, a star RB Todd Gurley and a two-time defensive player of the year Aaron Donald.
After the NFC championship game, everyone was talking about a no-call on the last drive of the Saints, but the truth is that the Rams have played a really good game, beating a very good New Orleans team. Their defence especially came through, with Aqib Talib holding Michael Thomas down to a very average performance.
It is their QB - Jared Goff - who hasn't shown the consistency in his performances this season, together with the troublesome form of Todd Gurley, who is not looking like the shadow of his former self. The defence shouldn't be a problem, as Aaron Donald will bring the pressure to Tom Brady, but it'll be up to those to win the game for the Rams.
Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots Betting Odds and Predictions
Patriots have played eight Super Bowl finals so far and in all of those matches, the game was decided on the final drive. Knowing that, it's extremely difficult to predict the winner in this one, but there is a value somewhere else; both of these teams like to start more slowly, so don't expect a shootout right from the beginning of this game...
