The Premier League continues this weekend with Chelsea now within touching distance of the title. At the other end of the table Sunderland are relegated while Middlesbrough and Swansea are both sweating on their continued survival. As always, I’ve scoured through the fixtures looking for the best value Premier League tips for the weekend.
Premier League Tips: AFC Bournemouth v Stoke City
With both teams almost mathematically sure of Premier League football next year there isn’t much more than pride and the chance to finish in the top half at stake in this game. I think this is an achievement in itself for Bournemouth, who have improved markedly of late to push themselves up the table.
Stoke are horrific away from home – one win in eight away from the Bet365 stadium is very poor form. I’m not quite sure what has happened to them but I think they’re suffering from a lack of goals in the main – they’ve scored only seven times in their last ten games in total.
It can be tough to call these games as they have the potential for teams to be “on the beach” as it were but my Premier League tips for this one are for Bournemouth to win again at home at 2.13.
Premier League Tips: Burnley v West Bromwich Albion
Burnley had been going really well at Turfmoor but of late even their home form has deserted them and they’ve found themselves down in 14th place – although their 39 points should be enough to keep them safe. With just one win in their last four at home only already-relegated Sunderland and their opponents West Bromwich Albion are worse at home right now.
Tony Pulis’ side is the very definition of a team on the beach. They’ve won once in their last six games since they hit that magical 40 point barrier – but the more damning statistic is that in 42 games teams managed by Tony Pulis have played having reached 40 points in the top flight, they have only won six.
I don’t think this will change in this game and my Premier League tips for this one are Burnley to win at 2.19.
Premier League Tips: Swansea City v Everton
Swansea are in deep trouble at the bottom of the table. With just three games left to play they’re two points behind a resurgent Hull City and then six points behind 16th placed Crystal Palace. This game is very much a must win game for Neil Clement’s side – but they’ve been better of late. A good point away at Old Trafford followed a clutch home win over Stoke City – they’re not going down without a fight.
The big question is how much of a challenge Everton will present to the South Wales side. I watched Chelsea tear Everton apart last weekend but I think that it’s difficult to judge the quality of Everton against a team that is on fire as much as Chelsea are. However, you have to go back to January 21 to find the last time Everton won away from Goodison – so there is a chance for Swansea.
I will admit to being torn on this one but I think Swansea could sneak it – and at 2.76 I think they’re good Premier League tips to do so.
