The ProTipster Crew are back again with another video podcast looking back over what happened over the weekend, a Premier League Weekend Review which we’re calling The ProTipster Weekend Roundup.
We’re all still keeping a bit ropy after the ProTipster Christmas party but you’re not here to hear about that so we get onto the weekend’s action.
Premier League Weekend Review
We chat about the Manchester Derby, Manchester City came out well on top and it looks like they’ve already tied up the Premier League before Christmas. Humbug.
You may, or may not, know already but apparently there were some handbags in the tunnel following the match yesterday. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is said to have entered the Manchester City dressing room to ask them to turn down their music (if it’s too loud, you’re too old) then some shenanigans followed and Manchester City coach Mikel Artetta ended up with a bloodied face after he, we’re told, got a bottle in his face from a certain Belgian Manchester United player.
But, y’know, let’s not let off field distractions…err, distract us from the actual match.
Manchester City were fabulous, they totally deserved their win and sure they were so good that they didn’t even need to assist their goals. Romelu Lukaku was happy to oblige for both goals.
We do disagree over the non-penalty Manchester United got, but we do agree on the one Everton got against Liverpool in the Liverpool derby at Anfield.
Jose Mourinho’s Not Learning
We chat about why Mourinho isn’t learning anymore from football. Southampton and West Ham both showed in their games against Manchester City that they do have weaknesses, indeed, they lost to Shakhtar Donetsk during the week and instead of The Special One learning from those game and capitalising on the weaknesses on display with a far better crop of players he instead reverted to type and parked the bus, at home, in an attempt to get their title challenge back on track. Not impressed.
Christian Benteke comes in for plenty of slagging thanks to his disastrous attempt of a penalty at home to Bournemouth in injury time. He hadn’t been named as Crystal Palace’s penalty taker but that didn’t stop him taking the ball and doing absolutely nothing with it.
Premier League Weekend Review
We speak about the joyous occasion of Swansea City actually scoring a goal and why Alan Pardew won’t save West Brom from relegation. Newcastle United also lost to Leicester City so we have a chat about whether or not manager Rafael Benitez will stay or go. He’s obliviously had enough of the current situation at Newcastle and unless the sale of the club goes through before January he’s not going to be able to bolster the squad with some badly needed players.
We take a quick look at the upcoming Premier League fixtures and disagree about whether it’s an interesting set of fixtures or not. So, we take a really quick look at Swansea City Vs Manchester City, Manchester United Vs Bournemouth, Newcastle Vs Everton and a couple of fixtures from the Bundesliga’s English week, as they call it over in Germany.
