Hello and welcome back once again to The ProTipster Football Show, today it’s all about the Champions League Betting Tips so we take a close look at the main matches coming up. There’s still plenty to play for and loads for ProTipsters Paddy and Dan to get stuck into.
Champions League Betting Tips
The boys kick off by having a look at the Group C match between Chelsea FC and Atletico Madrid and with a London derby against fierce rivals West Ham looming at the weekend will Antonio Conte field a full team and will he go with a striker-less formation again? There’s value here in the markets, especially with Atletico needing a win for them to have any chances of qualifying, so we have a look at a few different markets.
We have a quick look at Group D where Sporting have to beat none other than Barcelona to qualify and hope that Olympiacos can can hold Italian champions Juventus to a draw at the very least. Yea, wishful thinking, but it’s football and stranger things have happened.
Manchester United are at home to CSKA Moscow in Group A. CSKA need a good result if they want to get through, Basel are level with them on points but will be playing away to a Benfica team who have not delivered in this campaign at all, well, unless you count being truly terrible that is. They’re rooted to the bottom with 0 points.
We have a chat then about the Group F matches of Manchester City Vs Shakhtar Donetsk and Feyenoord Napoli. Napoli were disappointing against Juventus last Friday night but they can still qualify, they’re ahead of Shakhtar on goal difference, they’ve both beaten each other so Shakhar need to at least draw to finish ahead of Napoli, it’s all to play for.
We have a wee natter too about the result non-controversy of Pep Guardioala shouting at Southampton player Nathan Redmond and the wonderful piece of play after what Ryan Bertrand got away with at Etihad Stadium last week. That gets us talking then about the clash of heads between Sam Allardyce and Marco Silva. Sam got a dig in over Silva not being able to stop Hull City getting relegated. Silva though, unlike Sam actually has some silverware in his cabinet.
Champions League Betting Tips
Back to the Champions League betting tips though, Liverpool top Group E, but if they lose to Spartak Moscow and Sevilla beat Maribor (they will) they’ll be sent packing to the Europa League. Liverpool though haven’t lost at Anfield since Crystal Palace beat them there last April. Spartak though are a good team and have only lost once in their previous 15 matches.
Group H gets a bare mention because Spurs are playing. And we’ve already discussed on the podcast how Spurs need to get their season back on track but the problem seems to be very few people seems to be taking this match seriously.
Finally then for the group stages we take about the surprise team of this season’s Champions League, Besiktas, they’re already through, but Porto and Red Bull Leipzig can still get into the next round. Porto must beat an out-of-form Monaco but Leipzig have the tougher task in having to beat Besiktas at home. Dan gets fierce excited aboout Besiktas’ Asian Handicap price, we’re talking melon and pineapple beer excited here.
Finally then to round things up we have a chat about how great David de Gea is, Mark Clattenburg’s interesting comments regarding that match when Spur lost their collective heads against Spurs at Stamford Bridge two seasons ago and why Everton will now win the Champions League with Big Sam at the helm.
