Hello and welcome back once again to The ProTipster Football Show’s Combined XI podcast. Today it’s all about Arsenal Vs Liverpool, the biggest Premier League clash this side of Christmas since Godzilla took on a really big thing in one of those mad Japanese films you watched to impressed that girl from film school because you thought it would impress her. It didn’t, you didn’t and it all ended in disappointment. Hopefully though this match will bring us all some early Christmas cheer and we’ll see a mighty goalfest. And sure if we don’t, plenty of eggnog or Irish coffees to get into the Christmas spirit.
We’ve gone with a 4-3-3 formation here, the logic being that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp seems to use it to good effect, as does his counterpart, Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger, although he’s also quite partial to the 4-5-1 formation. 4-6-0 also makes the odd appearance but it would neither sit right with either myself or ProTipsterMartin, nor would it fit on the graphic that I currently use, so it’s not something I’ll ever be suggesting to the ProTipster boys.
Defence is easy, sure you’d be a bit soft in the head, as they say round my way, to go and be picking Liverpool defenders. Yes, they’re picking up clean sheets now, especially at home and have stopped the leaky mess the likes of which haven’t been seen since the last time I hired a cheap plumber instead of the usual fellow, but really, would you actually pick any of the Liverpool back four over Arsenals? Naw, don’t be fibbing to me, I know you wouldn’t. I did try to shoehorn James Milner in, but it was more to troll ProTipsterMartin than a real attempt.
In midfield we almost came to internet blows though, I went Dutch while Martin put on a bowler hat and produced his umbrella in a valiant attempt at patriotism, trying to get in a compatriot into the team. You’ll have to listen to find out who came out on top in the midfield battle. A couple of Germans and a Spaniard get a mention too. We’re fierce European us ProTipster lot.
Arsenal Vs Liverpool
Attack, attack! Sure you could stay talking all night about the different possibilities and lineups you could choose from the attacking players in both the Arsenal and Liverpool squads. Most people would, we, however, didn’t. It was pretty easy for us. Although I tried to get a proper striker in the team ProTipsterMartin made me see sense and we did choose wisely.
Oh the thought of having a team like the one we came up with.
Let us know in the comments who you’d pick in your Combined XI.
We have a quick look then at the upcoming match and Martin gives us his prediction for the Premier League clash.
