Following the short introduction to the 23rd round of the Euroleague and the previews we provided for the Thursday matches, I have decided to hit you with some Euroleague tips for the Friday night matches as well. Four games will be played this Friday night, with two that may influence the final standings significantly. Real Madrid are hosting Darusaffaka Dogus in Madrid, while Panathinaikos should have little problems with Unics Kazan who have proved to be the disappointment of the tournament thus far.
Darusaffaka did beat Fener two weeks ago but the Kings have been without error at the Barclaycard Centre where they have managed to win 17 games in a row, which is why it is no wonder that the bookies are pricing a home win at just 1.14 in Madrid.
The rest of the matches should give us more drama, especially the one in Istanbul where Anadolu Efes is hosting Baskonia in a direct confrontation for a spot in the top 8. Bamberg and Zalgiris are both below the line but still have chances of making the quarters, especially if we consider that the Lithuanian team is only a win away from Efes in 8th.
We will be focusing on these two more interesting matches whose Euroleague tips and previews you can check below:
Anadolu Efes vs Baskonia Euroleague Tips and Analysis
The stakes could hardly be any higher in this one. Both teams are currently at the bottom of the playoffs zone, which means the Abdi Ikpeci gym should be on fire this Friday. The winner of this match will be making a huge leap towards the playoffs, especially if it is Baskonia who has slightly better stats thus far, while the defeated team will find itself in a tricky situation for the rest of the competition.
The first duel of these two teams early in the season was a true drama. Baskonia’s NBA roster ended up winning by a single point (85:84) thanks to the Georgian player Toko Shengelia who scored the deciding free throw in the final seconds of the game. The NBA winger Andrea Bargnani led the Bakonia with 26 points, while Derric Brown was best for the visitors with 16.
There are quite a few things worth noting Friday’s duel. Efes coach Velimir Perasovic is extremely well regarded in Baskonia as the Croatian expert was the one to take them to the Euroleague Final Four last season. Perasovic will be Efes’ strongest weapon as he is very familiar with all the intricacies regarding the visitors.
The hosts will not be having many roster issues, while the visitors will be playing in the absence of the man who brought them victory earlier in the season. Toko Shengelia has now missed five matches due to an injury and will be missing this one as well. Rodrigue Beaubois is the player who will be expected to lead Baskonia. The French has been playing some fantastic basketball as of late, scoring at least one three pointer in each of the last 10 Euroleague games and he is the second best scorer for Baskonia with 12.8 points per match. In Shengelia’s absence, we can expect the French to easily score over 12.5 and Shane Larkin to add his usual 13 per match.
Protipster Euroleague Tips:
This game will be a duel of the third and fifth best attack in the league and I expect a game with many points so we suggest betting over 165.5 point in the match at 1.74. Efes on the other hand is the team with the second worst defense of the competition which is why we believe that an away win for Baskonia at 2.77 has enough value to possibly show a long term profit.
Brose Bamberg vs Zalgiris Kaunas
Brose and Zalgiris are trying to catch the last train for playoffs. Both teams are currently in the bottom end of the table and a defeat in this match would significantly reduce each side’s chances of making the next stage of the competition. Both teams are entering the game having won their domestic cups. Borse beat Bayern Munich 74:71 with good games from Fabien Courser (18 points) and Daniel Theis (17 points, 10 jumps), while Zalgiris has been unrivaled in Lithuanian basketball for a long time and it is no wonder they made easy work of Lietkabelis Panevezys, winning 84:63.
Most of the parameters we can look at before this game go in favor of the Lithuanians who have won 10 of the 11 games they played against Brose. Zalgiris made easy work of Brose in Kaunas back in round 9 when the Lithuanians won 86:72. Their best player Paulius Jankunas dominated the match with 23 points and 9 jumps while Theis led the guests with 15 points. Zalgiris is also entering this game on good form, having won their last four games in Euroleague, while the hosts have been on a bad streak having lost 5 of their last 6 games.
Protipster Euroleague Tips
Interestingly enough, the bookies are favoring Brose despite everything we just stated, which gives us a chance to place a fantastic 2.73 tip on an away win, which in our opinion is pure value. Neither team will be playing with any injuries and the only real factor going the Germans’ way is the support of the home fans in Bamburg. Knowing that on average both teams score under 80 points per game, I expect plenty of strong defending and long possession periods, making a bet of under 154.50 points in total look quite lucrative.
