The fourth round of matches in the Copa Libertadores group stages take place this week in South America. I’ve taken a look at some of the more interesting fixtures to try to find value Copa Libertadores tips for your betting needs.
Copa Libertadores Tips: Penarol v Palmeiras
Uruguayan side Penarol are gunning for revenge in this game, having gone down 3-2 in Brazil thanks to a 99th minute goal from Fabiano despite being down to 10 men after the sending off of Dudu. Palmeiras on the other hand will be looking to bounce back having been eliminated from the Paulista finals in Brazil by Ponte Preta at the weekend.
Angel Rodriguez and Ivan Villalba could come into the side for Penarol while Dudu misses out for Palmeiras due to the aforementioned sending off.
Normally, I’m loathe to back away teams in South America – especially in continental games but I think Palmeiras will have enough to see of Penarol, who are missing key players. Thus my Copa Liberatadores tips are Palmerias to win at 2.43.
Copa Libertadores Tips: Atletico Paranaense v Flamengo
Group 4 of the Copa Libertadores is about as tight as it can get with just two points separating the four teams. However, Flamengo could open up a four point lead over second placed Universidad Catolica in this game.
Both teams played demanding games at the weekend in their respective domestic tournaments. Atletico Paranaense lost 2-1 to Londrina but had enough about them to win on penalties to qualify for the final of the Paranaense Championship against Coritiba. Flamengo also won their semi-final tie in the Carioca Championship, beating Botafogo 2-1.
The pitch at the Arena da Baixada takes some getting used to, and as such Flamengo have spent the last couple of days training on artificial grass to be as prepared as possible. Paranaense have a good record at home against Flamego, and even though the Carioca side have tried to nullify that I think the home team will have enough. My Copa Libertadores tips for this game are Atletico Paranaense to win at 2.78.
Copa Libertadores Tips: Melgar v Independiente Medellin
The two bottom sides in Group 3 face off looking for a victory to kick start their Copa Libertadores campaign, with both sides having lost twice in three matches.
In the reverse fixture last week the Colombian side beat Melgar 2-0 at home, a fair result on the chances they created in the game. Melgar will need to improve drastically if they are to get something out of this.
Melgar have not played any domestic fixtures in three weeks, so they should be well rested. Medellin on the other hand have built momentum with three wins on the spin in the league and in the Copa Libertadores, cementing their second place in the Colombian league table.
Medellin should have enough to win this game but away games in Peru are difficult with the Melgar stadium 7,500 feet above sea level in the Peruvian city of Arequipa. If you are not feeling brave X2 in the double chance market is available at 1.45 – however, I am and my Copa Libertadores tips for this game are Medellin to win at a beefy 2.97.
