With Easter out of the way it’s back to Champions League action this week. Tonight sees Leicester City hosting Atletico Madrid looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit while Real Madrid host a Bayen Munich side defending a 2-1 lead. As always I’ve put together my Champions League tips and analysis for the games to help with your betting profits.
Champions League Tips: Leicester City v Atletico Madrid
As predicted, the game in the Spanish capital between these two teams was a tight affair which Diego Simeone’s men won by a single goal. I think the return fixture will be equally tough for Leicester – but they will know they need to win by two clear goals if they are to continue their Champion’s League dream.
Leicester have a decent home record. They’ve won their last five fixtures at home as they have bounced back up the Premier League table under Craig Shakespeare. However, Atleti are similarly good away, having not lost on the road in 2017 although many of those results have been draws.
Foxes skipper Wes Morgan could return after a back problem, which is good news for a Leicester defence which will be without the suspended Robert Huth. Atleti were able to rest Koke, Saul Niguez, Gabi and Antoine Griezmann at the weekend and with Kevin Gameiro potentially returning as well are at a good strength.
I think it will be tight again, and I think the easy bet is under 2.5 goals at 1.68. However, I’m nothing if not adventurous so my Champions League tips for this one is the draw at 3.41.
Champions League Tips: Real Madrid v Bayern Munich
I’m going to admit it – I was surprised that Real Madrid were able to get a result in Germany; I fully expected Bayern Munich to be triumphant. Neither team had a great domestic game at the weekend; Munich drew away to a Bayer Leverkusen side who have struggled this season while Real had to come back twice from behind and score in the 90th minute to beat lowly Sporting Gijon.
Gareth Bale will miss out for Real due to an ankle injury he picked up in the 2-1 win last week while Bayern welcome back Robert Lewandowski who has been out with a shoulder injury since April 8.
The onus will be on Munich from the off and with the Spaniards having scored two away goals Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti will know that they will need to score at least twice if they are to go through. The question is if Real can frustrate Bayern enough.
The bookies are expecting a goal scoring game, with under 2.5 goals at 2.70 and I have to admit I agree – I think it’s more likely Real will push for more goals than defend what they have. Even with Lewandowski back, I think this one will be too much for Bayern and thus my Champion’s League tips for this one are Real to win at 2.34.
