Premier League: Transfer Bets
As the new Premier League season is not so far away, the ProTipster crew speculates which transfers are most likely to happen and where is the value in these bets. We found a pretty sure, a pretty nice and a pretty wild bet!
A pretty sure bet: Alexis Sanchez to stay at Manchester United @1.66.
This player wants to leave the club and the club wants to sell the player; so what is the problem? In two words: his salary! Alexis Sanchez is one of the players with the highest salary around (there is a similar problem with Gareth Bale) and there is just no team which is willing to break their salary budget in order to sign him. United would have to make a deal with a club (Inter Milan looks like the only candidate) in which they would loan him and pay a part of his salary and so far they are unwilling to do so.
During his purchase, he was on top of his form and it looked reasonable to offer Mkhitaryan and a large salary in order to lure him to Old Trafford. But a season and a half later, there is just an unsolvable situation at hand. The most probable scenario is he will leave for China, but this will be possible only during the winter transfer period. So, as it looks, he is deemed to stay for a couple of months more at United.
A pretty nice bet: Paul Pogba to sign for Real Madrid @2.2.
This bet is all about the present situation and media news. Pogba is pushing for a transfer and Real Madrid are actively pursuing his purchase. There are several obstacles tough, and they all come down to money. Real Madrid have already spent over 200 million euros this summer and they’ll need to further balance their books (potential sales of Isco and/or Ceballos) in order to make room for Paul Pogba.
Although this might be a problem, there is just too much promise for this to happen: the player has multiple time announced of his wish to leave, Zidane has demanded the club to sign him and even the Board and the fans of Manchester United would probably be happy to see him go. Ultimately, two clubs will come to some sort of agreement, and this transfer will produce a chain effect, directing the transfer of players like Isco or Eriksen.
A pretty wild bet: Christian Eriksen to sign for Manchester United @8.0.
Christian Eriksen refused to sign a new contract and now Spurs are in a tight spot. They just need to sell the Danish playmaker this summer in order to get some transfer value out of his sale otherwise he will leave for almost peanuts. Tottenham have already signed Ndombele for a large sum of 60 million euros, proving they are ready to proceed without the Danish star player. Now, they would love to sell him abroad (Real Madrid looks like the most likely candidate) as Manchester United is also very interested in Danish star.
But if you believe (and we certainly do) Real Madrid will do whatever they can in order to sign Paul Pogba and ultimately succeed, United will be left with a large midfield hole and a lot of cash. And considering all this, Levy just might get convinced to sell Eriksen to their Premier League rivals just as they sold Kyle Walker to City several years ago. It will all come down to money and Manchester United just won’t be able to find a better player and a better fit than Eriksen. In the end, they’ll overpay him just enough to convince Levy to sell.
