Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town
Premier League champions are preparing for the match against a team that caused them plenty of trouble last Season. Without Kevin de Bruyne, it won't get any easier.
Thanks to their 0-0 draw at the Etihad in May, Huddersfield were the only side to stop Pep Guardiola's Man City scoring at home in the Premier League last season.
Manchester City start life without injured midfielder Kevin De Bruyne when they face Huddersfield on Sunday. De Bruyne will be missed for at least three months, after suffering a lateral collateral ligament lesion in his knee in training on Wednesday.
"He will be a big miss like Benjamin Mendy was last season," said City boss Pep Guardiola. "Kevin was outstanding last season and of course for him and his family, these injuries are never wanted.
They did play really well during the first Matchday, beating Arsenal 2-0 and looking just as dominant as they did last season. There are some good news also, because David Silva should return to the squad after missing the win over Arsenal.
Last year, this team was a real problem for the Citizens. Although they were defeated quite easily 3-0 in the first match against Chelsea, Guardiola and his men won't forget how much trouble they went through against this team.
Raheem Sterling scored a late winner to give City a 2-1 win at the John Smith's Stadium while the Terriers held on for a 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium in May. Huddersfield manager David Wagner hopes his side can make the champions "uncomfortable" when they meet on Sunday.
Huddersfield will be without defender Mathias Jorgensen after he suffered an injury in training while Jonathan Hogg faces a late fitness test. Danny Williams and Erik Durm are not yet ready to return while Ben Hamer looks set to continue in goal.
Odds and Predictions
City did look really good against Arsenal, but this is going to be a completely different game. Huddersfield won't mind playing ultra-defensive style, and this could be a problem for a side still suffering fatigue problems after the World Cup. City will probably win, but it won't be easy.
Editor's Pick
City will win, but not by a big margin and not by scoring many goals.
