Fiorentina Vs Juventus, Serie A Preview
Fiorentina Vs Juventus
Fiorentina Vs Juventus will get the Serie A weekend round of fixtures started this coming friday night. Fiorentina manager Stefano Piolo, who played a combined 189 times for both teams during his playing career, will be hoping his Gigliati can nick something against the team who he won the European Cup with back in 1985 defeating Liverpool.
The Old Lady though are in flying form at the moment. Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain scored a 20-minute hat-trick against lowly Sassuolo last weekend. He’s scored 5 in his previous 3 games for Juventus so will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet again this weekend. However, if anything Piolo, a former centre back, has made Fiorentina a very tough side to beat at home. They’ve only lost 1/5 of their previous home Serie A matches, surprisingly to Verona on January 28. But they drew with both Milan clubs in recent weeks, drew a blank with Genoa and put 3 past Sassuolo.
It must be noted too that Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri will surely be a bit preoccupied by Juve’s upcoming Champions League clash in Turin the following Tuesday with Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian giants are quite fearful of the threat that Harry Kane in particular poses so defensively here they’ll want to make sure all their best defenders come through this without too many scrapes and bruises. And with someone like Piolo having been raised on the dark arts of Catenaccio he’ll want to take advantage of this.
Seria A Betting
Over on the ProTipster website the most popular bet for this match is for Juventus to win. Currently priced at 1.85 at the time of writing. And yes I know I’m making a bit of a defence for Fiorentina here but it’s hard to look beyond Juventus’ recent form. They’ve won 9 and drawn 1 from their previous 10 Serie A games. They’ve also kept 9 clean sheets. On the road away from Turin it’s pretty similar, they’ve recorded 8 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. However, they’ve only kept 5/10 clean sheets when on the road and with Fiorentina having scored in 9/10 previous home Serie A games Both Teams to Score at 1.90 looks like decent value.
Regarding Fiorentina’s record they’ve won 3, drawn 5 and lost 2 of their most recent Serie A matches keeping just four clean sheets. At home things are a little better results wise, they’ve won 4, drawn 4 and lost 2. However, while they’ve been difficult to beat they are conceding goals and have only registered 3/10 clean sheest at home in the league.
In recent head to head encounters in the Stadio Artemio Franchi, Fiorentina have gotten the better of Juventus though, they’ve won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 of the last 5 meetings there. There have been Over 2.5 goals in 3/5 of those games and both teams to score has also landed in 3/5.
Argentina forward Paulo Dybala should return from injury for this fixture. Allegri will be keen for his young attacker to get some game time under his belt before the upcoming Spurs Champions League game. Winger Juan Cuadrado is out as is Blaise Matuidi who limped off against Sassuolo last weekend. He’ll also miss the Champion League tie and will be a massive loss for the Bianconeri. Andrea Barzagli and Douglas Costa should also return.
Fiorentina should welcome back defender Simone Lo Faso.
