Everton Will Try to Upset Liverpool
Liverpool and Everton will face on Sunday, December 2nd, at 17:15 at Anfield Road. Liverpool enter the Merseyside derby after painful defeat in the Champions League, but they need three points in order to stay point behind the leaders Manchester City. Everton are in good form and will try to upset their rivals, although they haven’t win at Anfield since 1999.
Liverpool are undefeated at Anfield this season
Everton scored just seven goals in six away matches
Liverpool are enjoying great season in the Premiership, but their hopes of qualifying for the Champions league knockout stage were handed a major blow last week. Liverpool visited Parc des Princes in Paris where they suffered their third away Champions League in this campaign. The Reds are still alive in the best European football tournament, but they will have to beat Napoli by two or more goals in matchday 6 of the competition.
Liverpool now have to focus on the Premiership where they’re still undefeated this season and where they’re just two points behind leaders Manchester City. The hosts failed to win at Anfield only against Manchester City, but they managed to keep a clean sheet against them.
In the past years the Reds had certain defensive problems, but Jurgen Klopp manage to stabilize it by bringing Virgil van Dijk in January.
All of this are not good news for Everton as they haven’t beaten Liverpool in their last 17 league encounters. Everton’s last win at Anfield came all the way back in 1999, almost twenty years ago.
Jordan Henderson was sent off in a 3-0 win against Watford, so he will be suspended for the derby.
Without any doubt Liverpool are favorites in Merseyside derby, but Everton are going through a good period. The visitors sit at sixth place behind Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal, but in front of Manchester United. They won most of their points at Goodison Park, while away from home they managed to beat only Leicester City.
Gyfly Sigurdsson scored the only goal against Cardiff City and that was the fifth win in the last seven league games for Everton.
Marco Silva shouldn’t have any injury concerns for derby, so he can pick the best possible XI.
Everton are generally in a good form, but this season they struggled against top teams. They did manage to take point against Chelsea, but they were also beaten against Arsenal and Manchester United. In those three matches they scored just one goal, and that one came from the penalty kick. So, there are still some question marks over possibilities of this team.
Liverpool FC and Everton FC Betting Odds and Predictions
Liverpool enter derby after heavy blow in Paris, while Everton are going through a very good period. All said, we consider the hosts as much better team. The Reds really look impressive in the Premiership. This season they conceded just five goals in 13 matches, while at Anfield they conceded just 1 six games. On the other hand Everton are struggling away from Goodison. They scored just seven goals away from home and as we already mentioned, they scored only one goal (from penalty) against top opposition.
Surprises are always possible in football, but we think that Liverpool will not have troubles beating their neighbors. There are couple of good bets we would consider for this match, but Liverpool -1.5 and Everton not to score seem as the best. In our opinion this match could win with a 2-0 or 3-0 home win, so we’re going with Liverpool -1.5.
