Best Premier League Bets for fixture 14th

The festive season kicks up into another gear this weekend as the ridiculous match-day programme sees teams playing shortly after their midweek clashes. For the fans, this is a dream time of year, with football coming thick and fast. This means the action is non-stop, while it is a key time where the smaller teams may be able to take points off their bigger opponents with all of the squad rotation going on. For the players, this is the most testing period of a standard season. With so little time between games, fatigue will become a huge factor, while their ability to take on so many different tactics and game plans within such a short space of time is a big challenge. With all of this in mind, we are once again forecasting an unpredictable weekend of action, and we have compiled our best bets for the final round before Christmas.

Tottenham vs Leicester
Both sides went into the midweek matchups in very good form, but both came out of it with a loss that will have massively dented their confidence. For Tottenham, it was only a last-minute Roberto Firmino header that saw them miss out on a hard-earned point at Anfield against Liverpool. Jose Mourinho’s men went about things in typical Mourinho style and probably should have put the game out of the home team’s reach as a cluster of their players missed great chances to put them a goal up. In the end, it was a perfectly-placed header by Firmino that took three points for Liverpool and saw them leapfrog Tottenham and go to the top of the league.
Leicester meanwhile went into their game against stuttering Everton on the back of two wins, but they too were denied the chance to continue their exploits as Richarlison and Mason Holgate scored to give the Toffees a 2-0 win. If the Foxes had picked up a victory in that match, they would currently sit in second in the table, a single point behind Liverpool.
Despite this loss, Leicester have outdone themselves so far, sitting above the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, but can they beat a Tottenham side that seem well into their stride right now? We are not so sure. Spurs may have lost last time out, but few teams go to Liverpool and avoid defeat, and they will likely have a very different game plan for this match. With this in mind, we feel that Spurs’ unstoppable forward Heung-Min Son, who netted his 11th goal of the campaign against Liverpool, will go on to add another goal to his haul in this one.

Manchester United vs Leeds United
This is one of those games that genuinely could go either way. Manchester United come into the match on the back of a much-needed win over Sheffield United, but it was hardly convincing. David McGoldrick had initially pounced on a Dean Henderson error to give Sheffield United the lead before Marcus Rashford netted a brace and Anthony Martial also scored. However, McGoldrick was again on hand to score late on to make things needlessly tense for the away side. While the three points was all that really mattered for Manchester United, the performance was once again not there, with the leagues bottom side (who are without a win and have just one point from 13 matches) threatening to take points off United.
While this weekend’s home team sit in sixth in the league with a game in hand, they really feel like they have failed to convince so far. Leeds United on the other hand have been battling incredibly hard this campaign and look Premier League quality, albeit mid-table standard. With 17 points from their opening 13 games, Leeds have built up an eight-point lead over Fulham in 18th and, if they can continue on their current trajectory, will be plying their trade in England’s top league next year.
While the visiting side are the underdogs going into this one, we feel that they have every chance of picking up a famous win. United have not won either of their last two home games in all competitions and look fragile at the back, while it seems that despite boasting two of the league’s best goalkeepers in Henderson and David de Gea, gaffs from the men with the gloves have occurred often. Leeds’ high pressing, high energy style of play has impressed many viewers while it has made things very awkward for their opponents who are given little time on the ball. This style is something that will likely get under the skin of United, and if they can get a goal early, they will be perfectly placed to setup on the counter and hit United on the break.
While we are not totally convinced Leeds will win outright, we think they have a real chance of avoiding defeat. With this in mind, we are backing Leeds in the Draw No Bet market, which means that if Leeds claim all three points, your wager will win, while you have some protection on your bet if they draw.
